CALCULATING SHIPPING COST
USING M3 Format
|
|
The table below helps you calculate the cost to
ship a vehicle from Japan to your country.
|
Freight is
the cargo (vehicle) being shipped to you by the shipping agent. The
prices of shipping freight to a certain location may vary according to
size of the vehicle, the country, location of the port and in some cases
the weight of the freight or cargo. To calculate the approximate freight
cost, you have to multiply the (M3) dimension size grade of the vehicle
by the fixed M3 rate/cost of the destination port.
For example, if you live in Kingston Jamaica and wants to import a Toyota
RAV4 SWB from Japan to Kingston Wharf/port, this is how you calculate the
approximate cost:
First, check the M3 dimension grade of the vehicle on the Dimension
Size Grades Table provided below. (This table list the Dimension
Grade Numbers given to a car according to its M3 Size - Length , Breath
and Height.) The
M3 grade number for Toyota RAV4 SWB is 10.5. Then check the M3 Rate Table
to know the M3 rate/cost of your port. (Kingston wharf is US$ 129/m3)
You then multiply the M3 grade number to the M3 Rate of your port to get
the approximate freight or shipping cost.
Toyota RAV4 SWB grade number is 10.5 X US$ 129 (M3 Rate/Cost to Kingston). The cost is
approximately US$ 1,354.5
Note:This cost is usually not included in
the price of the vehicle and has to be paid separately by the buyer.
